    After breakfast, set out on a scenic journey northward to Sukhothai (389 km / approx. 5.5 hours), the cradle of Thai civilization. Founded in the 13th century, Sukhothai—meaning “Dawn of Happiness”—was the first capital of Siam and the birthplace of Thai art, language, and culture during its golden age.

    In the afternoon, you seek a more immersive experience, a gentle bike ride through the park is available as an optional add-on. Cycling beneath swaying trees and around lotus-filled ponds offers a peaceful and picturesque way to absorb the beauty of this ancient capital.

    Step back in time as you explore the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once a grand walled city protected by moats, the park today preserves nearly 200 ancient temples and chedis, still standing in serene splendor. Wander through the atmospheric ruins of Wat Mahathat, the spiritual heart of the kingdom; and visit the elegant Khmer-influenced Wat Sri Sawai, tranquil Wat Sra Sri, Wat Trapang Ngoen, and the enlightening Ramkhamhaeng Museum, admire the giant seated Buddha at Wat Si Chum.

  • Sukhothai – Chiang Rai

    After breakfast, begin your scenic overland transfer from Sukhothai to Chiang Rai, journeying through the lush landscapes and cultural heartlands of Northern Thailand. This full-day trip offers not only a comfortable drive but also enriching stops along the way to break the journey and discover hidden gems. (Approx. 490 km, Esti. 8 hours’ drive, including sightseeing stops).

    Stop at Phrae, a charming and lesser-known town rich in Lanna heritage. Stroll through the old city to see beautifully preserved teakwood mansions like Vongburi House, explore local temples such as Wat Phra That Cho Hae, and enjoy a coffee break at a local café. Phrae offers a quiet yet culturally rich detour before continuing your journey.

    Drive further about 2 hours more for the next stop to visit Phayao, nestled beside the tranquil Kwan Phayao Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in northern Thailand. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance, take photos by the lakeside promenade. 

    From here, continue the final stretch of your drive (approx. 1.5–2 hours) to Chiang Rai, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. Along the way, admire the mountainous landscapes and scenic countryside that define this northern region.

    Leave your hotel after breakfast and enjoy a scenic ~30 km drive north to the Mae Chan district, a vibrant crossroads where the communities live and trade.

    First stop at local Akha village perched in the hills. Explore traditional stilted homes, learn about their intricate silver-beaded headdresses, and gain insight into village life and animist spiritual practices.  Proceed to a Long Neck (Karen) village, where you’ll meet members of the Padaung sub-group, learn the history and significance of their neck rings, and appreciate their handcrafted textiles and jewelry.  Conclude your cultural immersion at a Palong settlement, which is often quieter and more authentic—where you can observe daily routines, chat with locals, and witness traditional dress, food, and handicraft displays. This morning tour lets you respectfully observe and engage with living traditions. 

    Enjoy a delicious, locally sourced meal—perhaps featuring Khao Soi (northern sausage), and fresh seasonal produce—either in the village or at a nearby restaurant nestled within Mae Chan’s scenic landscape.

    This afternoon, you are ready to depart Chiang Rai (190km, est. 4 hours’ drive, including stop) and begin your picturesque overland journey to Chiang Mai, the cultural capital of Northern Thailand. The route takes you through rolling hills, verdant countryside, and charming rural communities—offering a relaxing and scenic transfer between two of the north’s most iconic cities.

    On the way, stop at a renowned local gem gallery, where Northern Thailand’s rich mineral heritage is beautifully showcased. Learn about the region’s precious and semi-precious stones, observe skilled artisans at work cutting and setting gems, and perhaps even find a unique souvenir to take home.     After breaking at the hotel, begin your journey with a scenic drive up the forested slopes of Doi Suthep Mountain, leaving the city behind for the cool, misty highlands of Chiang Mai. Switch to a local songtaew for a short but thrilling ride along a rugged mountain road, arriving at the peaceful Chang Khien Coffee Research Project. Here, you will taste a freshly brewed cup of locally grown Arabica coffee, surrounded by vibrant flower gardens and mountain air—an oasis of aroma and color.

    Continue to the nearby White Hmong village of Chang Khien, where you’ll step into a living cultural tapestry. Stroll through the village to see traditional wooden homes, meet locals who still wear colorful hill tribe garments, and learn about customs that passed down through generations over the last 500 years.

    On your return, ascend the grand Naga staircase to reach the jewel of northern Thailand—Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.   • Chiang Mai – Siem Reap, Cambodia

    After breakfast at hotel, transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, which may connect through Bangkok. Upon arrival in Siem Reap, meet your driver and transfer to the hotel for relaxing. The balance day is free at leisure. 

    Siem Reap is the gateway to the world’s most spectacular ancient temples, dating from 8th-13th centuries with their countless sculptured decorations and former Khmer capitals.

    On the balanced afternoon, you may enjoy some free time visiting the Old Market is the most tourist-oriented. The riverside market has more souvenir stalls offering a fairly wide range of souvenirs and various inexpensive local foods.

  • Siem Reap

    You head out of Siem Reap town, passing through the local village where you can see how rural life is.   Along paddy fields and sugar palm trees of the countryside, you will have a fabulous experience riding on an oxcart, a great opportunity to get an insight into village life in Cambodia by a traditional transportation. This is a fun and engaging adventure that allows you to stay in touch with the authentic local people. 

    Upon arrival at the lake inlet, get on a private wooden boat from Kampong Phluk’s pier to visit the floating village on Tonle Sap lake. Then the boat drives downstream onto the great lake of Tonle Sap where it offers you a close look at the submerged forest. Note: Kampong Phluk may fully flood between Sep-Nov. Alternative floating village at Chong Kneas can be arranged instead during low water level.

    Head back to the town for your own lunch and to the hotel for relaxation. (Official check-out time at 12:00 midday).

    This afternoon, stop at a looming large building on the roadside where you will get inside to discover Angkor National Museum, a state-of-the-art showpiece on the Khmer civilization. Before visiting ancient temples, it is a very helpful experience for visitors to put the history of Angkor and the Khmer kingdom in context.

    On the balanced afternoon, you may drop off at Old Market for your browsing souvenir or you may explore the city tour (no extra charge).

    You visit Artisan d'Angkor, a complete site of the arts and crafts school, will take you through the various training and production workshops. Continue to visit Angkor Silk Farm center of Puok where you will discover the various stages involved in Silk production, from mulberry tree orchards to silkworm breeding, the spinning mill and the weaving process. Stop to visit a historical significance of Wat Bo pagoda is among the oldest Buddhist temples in Siem Reap. It played an essential role in Cambodia’s spiritual and cultural preservation. If you are lucky to see 19th-century frescoes depicting the Reamker (Khmer version of the Ramayana).

  • Siem Reap

    Early breakfast at the hotel, to escape from some crowds, you will visit Angkor Wat that was built in 1113-1150. The structure is said to be one of the world’s largest religious monuments. It appears to have been both the state temple and mausoleum, dedicating to the god Vishnu, then for Buddhists. The temple is famous for bas-reliefs encircling the temple wall depicting scenes from Hindu mythology and the historical wars of the King. The central tower reaches a height of 65 meters, where you may also climb up and enjoy a breathtaking view. Angkor Wat symbolizes the soul of the Khmer people and graces every Cambodia's flag.

    You take a shady walk along the tall tree-lined avenues and explore the beautiful Ta Prohm temple. The huge roots of giant trees and vines make this temple unique and famous. The temple is so peaceful and restored to nature that it was even used as a filming location for Angelina Jolie's film ``Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.''

    Stop at a local restaurant near the temple on your own account. 

    Option to visit the temple through a footbridge during your visit Neak Pean, means "The entwined serpents" and a very great snake-Naga encircled the temple (no extra charge). 

    Option to visit Preah Khan, meaning "Royal Sword" which was the central Buddhist temple, and it was more than just a monastery yet also an entire city enclosing a town (no extra charge).

    You will visit the last capital of the Khmer Empire, Angkor Thom is literally "Great City" which was established in the early 12th century. Enter the capital through South Gate with its impressive sandstone carving, then continue to Bayon Temple sits at the heart of the capital. Its masterpiece consists of 54 standing towers with four huge smiling faces, and its outer gallery contains about 11000 bas-reliefs depicting heroic historical tales as well as scenes of Khmer daily life in that civilization.

    It is optional for climbing up at Bakheng Temple which is situated on a hill and provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex where you will enjoy sunset views with the fresh air of nature. (Note: Upper levels of the temple may be restricted during certain times because of the limited number of travelers), (no extra charge).

    Tonight, you will have a well-deserved dinner at local restaurant with a traditional Apsara and the traditional dance show which you will enjoy during your dining.
