Travel Advice Update on 27 July, 2025

The current situation affecting travel advisors, dated July 27, 2025
Since July 24, 2025, localized military tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border have prompted questions about travel safety in Cambodia. As travel professionals, it's crucial we provide accurate, reassuring information to our partners and clients based on official sources and current operational status.

Bottom Line: Cambodia's tourism infrastructure remains fully operational, with the situation confined to remote border areas far from major tourist destinations. All airports, hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampot, Sihanoukville, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, Kratie, and other popular destinations continue normal operations.

Both countries remain fully safe for tourism. Travel advisories from all major governments restrict only border areas within 50 km of the frontier—remote zones, not typical tourist destinations.

In Thailand specifically, government travel advisories from the UK Foreign Office, US State Department, and Australian DFAT specifically restrict travel only to areas within 50 km of the Thai-Cambodian border in seven provinces: Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Sa Kaeo. In Cambodia, this applies to Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, Pursat, and Koh Kong.

Multi-centre trips: The only impact on tourism operations involves the suspension of all land border crossings between Thailand and Cambodia. Clients planning multi-center travel between the countries should book separate flights instead—Bangkok to Phnom Penh or Bangkok to Siem Reap flights operate normally. Through our Global Collective for Travel partnership with Tripseed (Thailand), we can provide smooth coordination across both destinations.

As close neighbors, we strongly condemn the violence and urge immediate peace and restraint from both sides. Innocent civilians and children should never bear the cost of conflict. We remain committed to supporting our partners and promoting the rich cultural heritage both countries offer.

Professional guidance moving forward:
•    For current bookings: All current Serva Travel bookings and operations remain unaffected, and there is no need to alter travel plans.
•    For future bookings: You can continue to promote Cambodia with confidence at the current time, providing that bookings do not visit the affected border region. There is a substantial geographic separation between the affected border areas and major tourist zones.

We continue to monitor the situation closely, and we will provide further updates as and when necessary. Please feel free to reach us at sales@servatravel.com shall you have any questions.
