Overview
Travel from Phnom Penh to Battambang through Cambodia’s scenic countryside, with an optional stop to observe traditional pottery-making and learn about local craftsmanship along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy some time to relax before optional visits to cultural highlights such as Phare Art School or Battambang Museum. In the late afternoon, experience the iconic Bamboo Train ride through rice fields and rural landscapes, followed by a visit to Phnom Sampeou to witness the dramatic sunset bat exodus from the caves. The evening continues with a warm home-cooked Cambodian dinner, offering an authentic taste of local flavors and family hospitality. The journey continues the next day with a discovery of Battambang’s street art and countryside life before heading toward Siem Reap, stopping for meaningful cultural experiences and a social enterprise lunch along the way, arriving in the evening for hotel check-in.

Siem Reap – Battambang
Breakfast Lunch Dinner
8:00am, with your guide, you travel overland from Siem Reap to Battambang through Cambodia’s scenic countryside, passing rice paddies (seasonal), local villages, traditional wooden houses, and rural landscapes along the way. The journey covers approx. 170 km, est. 3 hours’ drive. Upon arrival, you drive to hotel directly to relax.
Battambang is the second-largest city, a tranquil riverside town and a small body of water. It is home to some of the best preserved French colonial architecture in the country.
Lunch is on your own account at hotel or a preferred restaurant that your guide will facilitate.
Early afternoon is free at leisure or enjoy swimming at the hotel pool.
Mid-afternoon, you visit Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) is a Cambodian non-governmental organization (NGO) aiming to support community development through providing social, educative and cultural services to children and their families. (Note: The school will be closed every weekend and on public holiday.)
Late afternoon, you enjoy a fun journey on Bamboo Train through the beautiful landscape of rice fields and rural villages. To experience a bumpy ride on the train so-called "Lorry", it is the world's unique one. The ride is a true experience and joy in the countryside!
You may, enjoy easy walking tour to discover Battambang’s creative spirit on a guided walk through its colorful street art scene. Hidden alleyways and riverside walls showcase murals inspired by Khmer culture, rural life, and contemporary social themes. Learn about the city’s artistic movement and gain insight into how modern Cambodian artists express identity and change through public art.
You will join a home-cooked meal, perhaps tasting local dishes such as amok, Khmer curry, and fried spicy chicken, not only the tasty food but also a delightful opportunity to get a "taste" of Cambodian family life.

Wake early and take a bicycle ride into the countryside. The ride is easy, about 22km and takes mostly shady roads and countryside through local villages. Along the way, stops at several family-run cottage industries who produce traditional products such as rice paper, dried bananas, and rice wine, production of the famous prahok (fish paste). A stop and enjoy with the seasonal fruit & coconut fresh juice. Finish up at the best Kralanh (sticky rice in bamboo) you can also taste.Lunch will be served Jaan Bai, meaning ‘rice bowl’, the restaurant is a social enterprise providing skills and employment for young people of family who live in poverty.Heading back to hotel to relax during the mid-day and early afternoon.Late afternoon, head to Phnom Sampov, meaning "Ship Hill", because its peculiar shape reminds us of a ship where you are ready to start an uphill walk, if you want. On the hilltop itself, a pagoda used to be a torture center during the Khmer Rouge, yet it gives you a breathtaking view, also interesting natural cave. Ending at dusk, you get ready for a fabulous show of nature as millions of bats exit the caves, creating patterns as they fly in tandem in the sky!This evening, you enjoy street tour tasting local dishes such as Khmer curry with noodles, fried or grilled spicy chicken and any drink is available in a string of pavement stalls. It is fun and cheap, get real experience with real nightlife of the locals. Battambang – Siem Reap – Departure

After breakfast at hotel, you will take the journey back to Siem Reap and drive to airport directly for your departure flight (Approx. 210, Est. 4 hours’ drive). And if your flight is late, in Siem Reap town, you can stop for lunch, shopping or city tour before proceeding to airport, just let your guide facilitate.
