  • Arrival – Siem Reap, Cambodia

    Breakfast Lunch Dinner

    Sua s'dei! Welcome to Cambodia. (IATA Siem Reap–Angkor Int’l Airport Code: SAI)  


    Upon arrival by flight, your local English-speaking guide will be greeted then transfer to hotel.  Note: Official check-in time at 2:00pm, early check-in subjects to room available. 


    Then you are ready to pick up the running kits from the committee.


    You warm up with a walking tour of about 2 hours through the charming town. You stop at Artisan d`Angkor, a complete arts and crafts training school and production workshops. Next, you stop at the Buddhist pagoda and walk along the riverbank which is linked by lofty trees along the famous river until the final stop at the Spirit House of Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chom.

    Back to hotel for refreshment. 

    Tonight, you will have a well-deserved dinner at local restaurant with a traditional Apsara and the traditional dance show which you will enjoy during your dining.

    Early get-up and transfer to Angkor Wat for the starting point and ready to your run registration with Khmer Empire Marathon.  Running first started in 2015; the event not only promotes running and fitness but also aims to raise funds for charitable causes, as it raised relief for the Cambodian victims and charity also goes to support more child’s hospitals. The marathon starts in front of Angkor Wat Temple and its route often offers scenic paths that pass by various ancient temples and through the picturesque landscapes surrounding them.

    Head back to hotel for your breakfast and enjoy with hotel amenities.

    Then you get pampered and enjoy a relaxing with traditional massage that is a combination of acupressure and light stretching movements. The treatment helps recover a smooth energy flow and increase flexibility of your body movement which is perfect for your relaxing. 

    Lunch is on your own account. 

    Afternoon, drive passing along the local village where you can see how rural life is. Upon arrival at the lake inlet, get on a private wooden boat from Kampong Phluk’s pier to visit the floating village on Tonle Sap lake.  It is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia, connects to the Mekong river. Tonlé Sap Lake plays as of central importance role for Cambodia's food provision. On board a cruise slowly through the canal of the village, you will be thrilled at the scenic beauty of a unique and authentic Cambodian village on the lake. 

    A short stop and ride on a rowboat through an impressive flooded forest where you can enjoy paddling beneath shady trees makes you feel breathtaking with its romantic atmosphere; you also taste local food on board.  

    Then the boat drives downstream onto the great lake of Tonle Sap where it offers you a close look at the submerged forest, and a breathtaking view of the seemingly endless water surface. 

    Note: Kampong Phluk may fully flood between Sep-Nov alternative floating village at Chong Kneas can be arranged instead during low water level.

    6:00am, you will depart early from your hotel and begins your exploration of a Remork Motor by the lady driver. It is the easiest and fun way to look around you on board, aside from supporting women. 


    By escaping from the crowds, you will be ready to take a shady walk along the tall tree-lined avenues and explore the beautiful Ta Prohm temple. The huge roots of giant trees and vines make this temple unique and famous. The temple is so peaceful and restored to nature that it was even used as a filming location for Angelina Jolie's film ``Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.''


    Continue to visit the last capital of the Khmer Empire, Angkor Thom is literally "Great City" which was established in the early 12th century, then continue to Bayon Temple sits at the heart of the capital. Its masterpiece consists of 54 standing towers with four huge smiling faces, and its outer gallery contains about 11000 bas-reliefs depicting heroic historical tales as well as scenes of Khmer daily life in that civilization.

    Optional visiting, Preah Khan, meaning "Royal Sword" which was the central Buddhist temple, and it was more than just a monastery yet also an entire city enclosing a town. The temple serves today as an outstanding example of a large linear temple complex in a jungle setting where you can enjoy a fascinating view. Lunch is own your own account. 


    Then you visit Angkor Wat, the temple built in 1113-1150. The structure is said to be one of the world’s largest religious monuments. It appears to have been both the state temple and mausoleum, dedicating to the god Vishnu, then for Buddhists. The temple is famous for bas-reliefs encircling the temple wall depicting scenes from Hindu mythology and the historical wars of the King. The central tower reaches a height of 65 meters where you may also climb up and enjoy a breathtaking view. Angkor Wat symbolizes the soul of the Khmer people and graces every Cambodia's flag.

    Optional climbing up at Bakheng Temple which is situated on a hill and provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex where you will enjoy sunset views with the fresh air of nature. (Note: Upper levels of the temple may be restricted during certain times because of the limited number of travelers).
